Western Novel Author Alexander Leslie Scott

(1893-1974) began writing western novels when in his early twenties, often building the story line from his own experiences. A high volume writer, Scott wrote in the area of 250 western novels using various pen names.

Alexander Leslie Scott created the character, Texas Ranger Jim Hatfield and wrote 55 of the stories in the Texas Ranger series under the pseudonym/house-name of Jackson Cole.

A dispute with Standard Magazines led to Scott losing rights to the Hatfield character he created. He then went on to create the Walt Slade series writing under the pseudonym/house-name of Bradford Scott and contributed around 125 stories to the series.
