To Firefox or to Fire fox

October 8th, 2009

Ok….I finally gave in and switched from firefox. Firefox used to be fast for me but not for a while now. My computer has been running so slow I couldn’t stand it any more. Now, I don’t have a new and fast setup but it should be running much better than it is.

I typically have 4-6 programs in use, plus my FF browser with about 5 tabs open, not to mention my Avira antivirus and my desktop notifier in the background. My CPU usage is most always up in the mid to high 90% range bogging everything down. Slow response time just to open an existing file or create a new file, switch between windows …it was getting to be enough to start to put one to sleep.

Each tale is narrated in the first person by the central figure who is Dray Prescott.

The later volumes were bylined “by Dray Prescot as told to Alan Burt Akers” to make it appear that fictional Dray Prescot was the real author.

The first thirty-seven titles were published by DAW Books from December 1972 to April 1988. Later volumes were published only in German by Wilhelm Heyne Verlag from 1991 to 1998, except for volumes 38 to 41, which were also issued by electronic publisher Savanti, as ebooks in the English language from September 1995 to December of 1998.  Savanti is

Setting Up a Back-up Internet Connection For Free

February 9th, 2009

I consider myself fortunate to have a fast cable internet connection for the past couple of years. Before that I had a slooowwww dial-up connection and I hope to never have to go back to it.

However:

There are times when the cable connection goes out, for a few hours or a couple of days. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like being without my internet connection. Fortunately it seldom happens, but when my cable internet connection goes out I do get antsy.

These are just a few of the best loved series many of us enjoyed reading during our childhood. Countless enjoyable hours were spent reading and coming to enjoy a favorite authors works. But who really are the authors of these titles?

When one does a little investigation we find that many of the named authors are merely pen names or pseudonyms used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate.

Edward Stratemeyer was born in 1862 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He began writing stories for magazines in the 1880s. Stratemeyer married Magdalene Van Camp in

My first wordpress project

October 25th, 2008

So….. this is my first post. I’m trying to get the hang of wordpress, particularly the custom theme designing aspect.

It is fun, but there are some bugs to be worked out in my first attempts at working out my own theme.

Pointers are welcome. :-)
